## Description: The mission of Apache Celeborn is the creation and maintenance of software related to an intermediate data service for big data computing engines to boost performance, stability, and flexibility. ## Project Status: Current project status: Ongoing Issues for the board: None ## Membership Data: Apache Celeborn was founded on 2024-03-20. There are currently 28 committers and 16 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 7:4. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. The last addition was Fei Wang on 2024-12-31. - No new committers. The last addition was Xianming Lei on 2026-04-20. ## Project Activity: Software development activity: - Apache Celeborn 0.7.0 was released on 2026-08-16. - The 0.7.0 release expanded engine support to Spark 4.1/4.2 and Flink 2.1/2.2/2.3, and improved the maturity of the Spark 4.0 and Flink 2.0 clients. - The C++ native client (CIP-14) made substantial progress toward feature parity with the Java client, including the push/merge data path, compression, retry logic, native transport, and hybrid integration tests. - Encryption at rest (CIP-22) progressed with the Spark-side implementation included in 0.7.0. - The release also improved remote storage support for S3, OSS, and HDFS; observability; performance; shuffle integrity; durability; reliability; and security. - A standalone LifecycleManager and a Rust SDK were introduced, together with further Helm chart improvements. Recent releases: - Apache Celeborn 0.7.0, released on 2026-08-16. ## Community Health: Overall community health remains healthy, with a Community Health Score (Chi) of 6.33. In the past quarter, traffic on [email protected] decreased by 6%, from 56 to 53 emails. Traffic on [email protected] increased by 21%, from 834 to 1,013 emails. The development mailing list therefore remained broadly stable, while issue-related activity increased. During the same period, 100 JIRA tickets were opened and 68 were closed. This shows continued development activity, while the difference between opened and closed tickets is something the community should continue to monitor. There were no new committers or PMC members during the quarter. The community will continue encouraging active contributors to deepen their participation and will monitor contributor growth and issue resolution in the coming quarter.
