I'm dropping everyone else from this and CCing the list so I don't spam anyone
I've effectively been emeritus since I stepped down as the PMC Chair so I don't really have much of a horse in this race I suppose. Heck, my response to the other thread was 3 months out of date. I think we've been in the "unhealthy project state" for a very long time (before I stepped down as Chair IMO) and we probably should have gone to Attic a while ago. Honestly, I'm disappointed that we're still having conversations about people doing siloed work without feedback to the list on the software ~ 7 years after it's been at the ASF. Especially when it's from people who've been around here for a while. I don't see how it's easier to work on a personal fork of the project when you have write-bit. Just do your work in a branch and push it up regularly so others can help if they want. I realize it can be semi annoying to have to duplicate conversations publicly but it doesn't take much effort to send an email to the list saying "Hey, I want to make some big changes with X, Y, and Z. I'm going to start doing this in some branch. What does everyone think?". Feel like I've been beating this dead horse for so long it's just a pile of bones at this point. -- Jimmy On Sat, Jul 25, 2020 at 11:18 AM lewis john mcgibbney <lewi...@apache.org> wrote: > Hi All, > > There is an open thread [0] titled "OCW revitalising - questions from the > board"... which I think is pretty self explanatory. > I'm creating this parallel thread to gauge what interest there is from the > PMC in continuing the project?
