The author, Steve Jin wrote this API, he also co-wrote and designed the original non open source VmWare APIs. (I even have one of his books).
This project is now supported by community and Steve. I'd say the chance of it being very much similar to non opensource version - is very high, but I will let the more knowledge developers make that call.
