Mike, XenServer 6.2 + SP1 + XS62ESP1004 hotfix and the versions after support a new API that allows CloudStack to copy the deltas between two snapshots. With that addition, CloudStack no longer needed the plugin scripts because that's what the plugin scripts were mainly for. Don't try to backport this to code prior to 6.2 or even plain vanilla 6.2 itself, it won't work as that API is not there.
In CloudStack source code, we refer to this XenServer combination as XenServer6.25 to indicate the significance of the change.
