According to my reckoning, the build fails with deprecated classes 
switched off.

This is because the ResolverImplTestCase depends upon the deprecated 
o.a.c.components.resolver.ResolverImpl class.

Should this be fixed before release?

I'm afraid I don't really know what it is doing, so I can't look into it 
myself.
