No pipelines in Cocoon 1.x, it was called a Reactor pattern and the main reason for the birth of Cocoon 2.
I know, I know. I started with Cocoon 1.7.4 in July 2000, and although it hadn't much in common with today's Cocoon, I loved it ;-)
