Thanks Donald for pushing it!

I'm not a commons guy, but I wait desperately for getting the agimatec stuff 
over to apache (already using it in a productive project). 

What about the package names? 

org.apache.commons.validator
or e.g.
org.apache.openvalidator
?

It would be nice to know where the ride goes too, because I'm not very excited 
if we would have to refactor the whole code over and over again.
