Not sure I'd call the SHA1 hashes cruft; they're not required, but
they are allowed.
Some people may prefer them to MD5.

What is total cruft is the set of sig hashes, i.e. .asc.md5 and
.asc.sha1 - they serve no purpose whatsoever.
