Hi, folks,

The https://github.com/apache/comdev repo has been created on Github (Thanks
Drew!). This includes several things:

* asf-highlights directory, containing some of the tools that I’ve been using
to produce the new blog posts on https://community.apache.org/blog recently,
and, more generally, to answer the question “What’s happening at Apache?”

* project-activity directory, containing tools that answer “what’s happening in
my project?” There’s a few other tools that I’m planning to put in there, as
soon as I generalize them a little so that they run somewhere other than just
my laptop :D

* Issue tracking, where I hope to start posting volunteer opportunities,
project suggestions, and so on, as well as a way for folks to submit request
for help from us. yes, I know, we have
https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/COMDEV/issues already, but the struggle
of signing up for Jira accounts, along with the lack of discoverability, have
made that somewhat less than useful. I’m hoping over the coming months to
either resolve or migrate the issues in there.

* Pointers to other Comdev resources.

My goals here, as I discussed in $otherthread, are to share more broadly
opportunities for participation, as well as some of these (yes, I know, very
simple) tools that I have been using myself to dig into what’s happening at the
ASF, as well as investigating activity on individual projects.
