Robert Newson commented on COUCHDB-1420:
----------------------------------------

We should reject dbnames over 256 characters as the database will be stored in
a file of that name and many filesystems have a 256 char limit. {error,
etoolongfilename} is somesuch.

> Futon display breaks on really long db name
> -------------------------------------------
>
> Key: COUCHDB-1420
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-1420
> Project: CouchDB
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Database Core, Futon
> Affects Versions: 1.2
> Reporter: Sam Bisbee
> Priority: Minor
>
> Futon's display breaks if the database name is too long and some information
> is just not retrieved.
> Example database name:
> bpjwguulsnozjugktpmtnsucxlojprxyhbmuxkyuqepaptmjvwctautgpiawxiodsqkdrposfrdayauvzkgixkztdaamhhihifdvdqykpqacpmifosdouzlqwxkbooxnebxohdueppgpawfsetsayrzeigevclmnplfewskbzepwqkrpuvsqeqkdnmkgxwrsmdqmgcqkhfkgtnfmcompyugwmymaoguzxwfjn
> Marking minor since people who want db names this long/crazy are (a) a
> minority and (b) should be accepting of minor UI issues.
> Cheers.
