I ran Robert's test with a tiny doc and minimal view and saw the 25%
performance drop, but using more realistic doc sizes and views show
and improvement for 1.2.x (in one case 1k docs with a view that emits
a complex key and an integer for the value).

Filipe's https://github.com/fdmanana/seatoncouch makes it really easy
to populate different sized docs and databases. If anyone could hack
up a version of Robert's script combined with seatoncouch to make
different sizes for documents, we can find out what to expect in
performance differences.

I'd say if we find one pathological case to be worse but prove across
the board, things are faster, that this isn't a blocker.

Cheers
