Benjamin Young created COUCHDB-1687:
---------------------------------------

Summary: HEAD requests on all valid _design/doc endpoints
(particularly _update)
                 Key: COUCHDB-1687
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-1687
             Project: CouchDB
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: HTTP Interface
            Reporter: Benjamin Young

I began building an update handler to "catch" webhook POSTs, but found that
some--like MandrillApp.com--want to be sure the endpoint exists--so they do a
HEAD request--before they send content via POST.

However, hitting an _update/handler with HEAD generates a 500 Internal Server
Error currently.

Additionally, I found that _view/* URL's actually send the full content body to
HEAD requests.

I'd love to see _update & _view (and all the others) respond correctly to HEAD
requests.

Thanks!
