I believe maven has some smarts such it can recognize if a dependency in the
build is a jar or a directory and will use add the directory to the classpath
if the jar doesn't exist. The archetype being the first failure is probably
because the archetype requires an actual jar dependency.
Ryan can you verify the issue you are seeing with the build? I just ran "mvn
clean install" with HEAD (commit 92888ff4260d1417baba66323e2dd2779f0105e4) and
was able to do so successfully. I didn't do any other steps so if you entered
the broken state through a series of commands or with a special profile let me
know.
