This year, CXF was granted 3 projects for Google Summer of Code:

1) OpenAuth support for CXF - Lukasz Moren
2) Lightweight Atom HTML based browser for CXF logs - Tomasz Oponowicz
3) JiBX DataBinding - Nilupa Bandara

First off, I'd like to welcome all three of the students. I really look
forward to working with them to completely the projects.

OK. Some administrative details. All three students should:

a) Subscribe to the dev list. Just send an email to:
[email protected]
Part of the Google end of project evaluation (and mid term eval) is how well
did the student interact with the community. At Apache, that means
participating on the dev list. I'd like to see status updates, questions,
proposed patches, etc... posted to the dev list for review and such. While
Sergey and myself are listed as the Mentors for the above projects, it's
important to Apache to have the entire community able to participate.
Ideally, all interactions would be on the dev@ list and there wouldn't be any
private emails between student/mentor.

b) If possible, file an ICLA with Apache.
http://www.apache.org/licenses/icla.txt
You can print/sign/fax as the instructions say, but you can also do a
print/sign/scan and email to [email protected] as well. The ICLA is
necessary for two things:
   1) To get an account for SVN
   2) To grant access to confluence so you can update documentation.
Documentation should be part of the project so that is kind of important.

c) Once you do (b), we can have Apache create an account for you and we can
grant access to the CXF sandbox in subversion. If possible, that is were
we'd like you to work on it. Commits in there would send email to the commits
list and we can see what is happening and review the commits and such.
(Nilupa: this is different than what I suggested. I just learned that Apache
would allow the gsoc students to have temporary accounts)(that we would love
to see turn into full committer accounts :-)

To accomplish (c), I'll need from each of you a preferred user ID as well as a
secondary choice. Also, and email address to have the initial password and
such sent to. Please send me that stuff off list.

Anyway, welcome to CXF. I'm looking forward to a great summer of
contributions and discussions with all three of you!
