Hi DFDL dev community,

The release process for the Apache Daffodil Extension for Visual Studio Code
Version 1.4.1 is now underway! This update includes several important bug fixes
identified during v1.4.0 release, as well as treatment of several issues
reported by the community. Thanks to everyone who continues to provide feedback
and support.

Looking ahead, contributors have identified a notional follow-up release,
v1.4.2, which is expected to focus on further bug fixes and minor enhancements,
particularly in areas such as TDML support, the Data Editor, and IntelliSense
improvements. The intent is to further refine the existing functionality before
introducing significant new capabilities or changes. A list of issues currently
targeted for v1.4.2 can be found
here<https://github.com/apache/daffodil-vscode/milestone/12>.

Following v1.4.2, attention is expected to shift toward potential new features
for v1.5.0, which may include:

  * Updates to the Data Editor profiler
  * IntelliSense improvements to support creation and editing DFLD Schemas.
  * An enhanced TDML user interface.
  * A new workflow design to conduct more complex operations/transformations
on portions of a data file when editing such as encrypt/decrypt,
compress/decompress, or encode/decode segments of a data file.
  * Schema validation for the generated XML Infoset files.

As always, community participation is welcome and encouraged. These plans are
shaped by current contributors and remain open to discussion and collaboration
from anyone interested in participating.

Thanks,

Hitesh Dalsania
