Does anyone know of a workaround for bug IZ#41239 ( http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=41239 )?
Is there a way to manually reconnect the database? (should I file an issue RFE for manual reconnect?)

Are you able to use ODBC rather than JDBC? You may have more luck with it, from what I've heard.
