Hi,

my list of possible improvements to the import wizard contains this
items:

1. The page where the source table fields are shown for selecting the
ones to import lacks buttons for moving single fields up- and downwards
to change the creation order in the target table.

2. Date formats should be changable more flexibly, it only shows format
string or example formats for dates having the same locale as the office
running. I'd like to see foreign locales too or a button to launch the
well known dialog from other application parts where the user can design
it's own format string to use in the import.

3. Influencing how primary keys are set is not really intuitively
presented. The import wizard needs to:

- show which field would be selected automatically as PK

- offer an explicit boolean input field (checkbox or similar) for
selecting a column as primary key in the table to create

4. When importing data from writer or calc all columns are presented as
text (varchar()) values by default, although the calc user has set
column fomats to the sheet. It would be really helpful if the wizard
would try to detect these formatting and use them as default when
presenting the field list for adapting the column type. E.g. if htere is
a date column in the sheet the wizard would set the default date format
at start.

Does this match your observations, too?

I want to sort out which issues to write.

Marc
