For me (maybe I'm the only one - but I don't believe) the main goal of Base documentation should be to simplify data base usage (and not e.g. to try to show all the capabilities of OOo Base). So reducing complexity (by learning by doing) seems to me the best approach to help many people to use data base functionality. A really good ;-) example for me is this (German) document: http://de.openoffice.org/doc/oooauthors/base_entwurf_einer_datenbank.pdf which I already had started to translate in the wiki but could not continue out of different reasons. For my experimenting see http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/User:Nnino/Drafts/Tutorial:_Working_with_OOo_Base I don't know if somebody else has translated it in the meantime. It just makes the learner use Base and understand what she/he does. Doing practical work and learning the concepts behind. But I think this is a "tutorial" and not a "Users Guide" (what ever the difference might be). So if I could, I would try to convince you to concentrate to create a "tutorial like" Users Guide or at least to start with a tutorial (maybe even with translating this one).
