Reinstalled Fedora 18 again from scratch, same error.
Installed the following packages:
yum -y install gcc-c++
yum -y install libxml2 libxml2-devel
yum -y install libxslt libxslt-devel
yum -y install sqlite sqlite-devel
yum -y install ruby ruby-devel
yum -y install git
