Stefan Zoerner commented on DIRSERVER-825:
------------------------------------------
Just a little note for those of you who don't know the Spring Framework in
detail:
The bean definitions in the description above are equivalent; Spring offers the
alternative with a value attribute instead of a value element for primitive
types and stings. It does not work for more complicated things like sets and
lists (like the property indexedAttributes in partition configurations). this
shortcut does not apply for <props>.
See here for details.
http://static.springframework.org/spring/docs/1.2.x/reference/
Therefore this change in the server.xml does not interfere any existing
configuration you might already have. The aim of changing the default
server.xml is to show new users, who are not Spring experts, this abbreviated
configuration option instead of the lengthy one.
> Simplify default server.xml by using another property setting style for
> simple values and references

> Currently, the bean definitions in the default server.xml from the
> server-installers project seems to favor this style (example):
> ...
> <bean id="systemPartitionConfiguration" class="...">
> <property name="name"><value>system</value></property>
> <property name="cacheSize"><value>100</value></property>
> <property name="suffix"><value>ou=system</value></property>
> ...
> The configurations becomes shorter if we use this style
> ...
> <bean id="systemPartitionConfiguration" class="...">
> <property name="name" value="system" />
> <property name="cacheSize" value="100" />
> <property name="suffix" value="ou=system" />
> ...
> User can easily use this style on their own, but many will simple adjust the
> default to their needs. Thus it should be less verbose.
