Hi

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you - i have just only managed to start catching up with my email.

Just to introduce myself I help coordinate the P2P part of the distribution project (distribution.openoffice.org/p2p) as well as help with the newsletter part of the marketing project (ooonewsletter.blogspot.com).

From the emails below I gather that you have not yet set up a mirror but that you wish to do so - am I correct on this? If so the main page at http://distribution.openoffice.org/ will outline all the steps needed. This includes joining some of the mailing lists there. The main mirrors page (http://distribution.openoffice.org/mirrors/) lists all the current mirrors to see what services other servers are providing as a guide. The what to distribute page (http://distribution.openoffice.org/files.html) lists what the different category of mirrors are in the OpenOffice.org project. Once you have made the decision to become a mirror you can contact the [email protected] mailing list where one of the maintainers of the Mirrors sub-project will get in touch with you and advise you further. This should get you set up as a mirror.

I am not quite sure how the contributing process of translations work - it may be best to talk to Charles about this. However once it is contributed to the main OOo master server it will be mirrored throughout the network.

My main part deals with distribution of OOo files through the P2P network, concentrating on popular files. If you do wish to allow P2P downloads once your translation is finished please get back to me about it. Furthermore as I help with the newsletter project I can help with any publicity that you want about this. I am sorry I cannot advise you any further as I am not specialised with the mirror and translation parts of the OOo project.

I am forwarding this to the [email protected] mailing list where the main work of mirroring OOo is discussed. This should bring it to the attention of the mirror maintainers.

I hope this helps. If there are any problems please do not hesitate to get in touch.

With Thanks
Deepankar

hi!
yes, i think we could support loc.projects for all Baltic States - all I have to know is specification/technical things we have to have... and of course these all things for OOo official local mirror, too...

I got your e-mail from Charles.  We have oportunity to setup Latvian
mirror for openoffice stuff.  I would be interested to know best
practices for doing that for whole OOo and for Latvian localisation
subproject (or may be other Baltic states too - Raimonds?).
About us:
Latvian OOo localisation project ( http://lv.openoffice.org) is in midle of UI translation (we got 45% ready).  Our localised testing builds are
made by Pavel Janik.
University of Latvia Linux center (who will host mirror) is very active
our supporter.
Please contact me or Raimonds for additional information if needed.

Thank you in advice,
Gints Polis

Okay, go here:  http://distribution.openoffice.org . There are a lot of sub-projects, like the "mirrors" project or the p2P one. Please contact
Deepankar Datta ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and tell him I sent you.
Feel free to put me in cc of the mail.

Sorry I'm rush, but I hope it helps,

Charles.
