Yes, you can start the translation. I haven't heard of anyone doing so,
either.
Good luck.

Hi, Thanks for the welcome.
It feels like home already. I was looking "High Priority Tasks" and i find this:
Setup Guide proofing and translation. See Issue 37513 for English version).
Contact: GR Singleton.
I follow the link and the task is:
"Mission Statement To provide comprehensible documentation in multiple languages to guide users through the setup process of OpenOffice.org."
And:
"If you would like to participate in the localization of the Setup Guide into your own language, please contact Scott Carr at: [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you attach a finished guide to an issue, please ensure that you enter this address to the Add CC box in the Issue form."
I´m Brazilan, so I can translate it to Portuguese. My writting english isn't that good, but reading is fine.
The "Setup Guides for OpenOffice.org 1.1" in portuguese, wasn´t complete. But I
really prefer to start translating the new guide 2.0, since I never used the 1.1 version.
Also, I'm not used to work with shared documents.
I do not believe that anyone from the br-pt NLC is doing a translation.
I will ask for you.
To start, I have download the SETUP_GUIDE.zip that I belive is the active
english revision (1.10), I am right?
That is correct.
Here are my questions: (or is it here's? :)
1. is there someone else translating the same document for portuguese-br?
Do not know? As I said I will ask but I think you are safe to start
translation.
2. how do I start?
If you can work in English, simply start translating. I recommend that
you use the A4 version as I believe that is standard in Brazil.
3. there is two file in the english's setup source: SETUP_GUIDE.odt and
SETUP_GUIDE_A4.odt, why? :)
One is USletter and the other A4 page size.
"You might also like to email the list with a short bio."
Well, I'm an university student resident at João Pessoa-PB-Brazil. I'm leaning
OO to teach in my neigbourhood.
I do think you will find that getting the screenshots in br-pt will be
time consuming but if you keep them in the img directory you will find
that you can update quickly and efficiently.
Please attach your translation to
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=37513 so it can be put
in the correct heirarchy.
