About the Troubleshooting HOW-TO, are you willing to take it on? Let me
know either way. The HOW-TO is actually the text from chapter 14 of the
guide massaged for a HOW-TO so I and/or you should keep these in sync.

OK, I could take on that How-To. I will also take care of the "straight
forward" problem in a straightforward manner.
I have created
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=66088
and attached the source for the how-to. Now all I need is your
openoffice.org user name so it can be assigned directly to you. If you
prefer I can assign it to me.
My OOo user name is Detroit (which echoes as detroit), so it apparently
is not case sensitive.
AFAIK, I strongly suspect that "straight forward" (two words) is an
English usage error and that its two-word form shouldn't ever be used.
BTW, there's an amusing web site for "eggcorns" or "egg corns" for
"acorns," in case anybody is interested: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/.
I added a couple entries to its data base myself from some recent
readings: "sales edicate" for sales etiquette and "by enlarge" for "by
and large".
This difference may be more generational than anything else. If you have
grabbed all the bits and pieces of the document, you will see my usage
is consistent. So start with the HOW-TO and Chapter 14, and attach new
editions to the appropriate task as you wend your way. I will fix
chapter 3 use of straight forward with straightforward as I work.
Many thanks.
To be perfectly frank, I haven't as yet read the OOo UG other than
briefly scanning it after its download last Thursday but am in the
process of reading the OOoAuthor docs in detail. Are there any
OOo-specific style guides and such? I generally follow the general
guidelines in CMoS 15 and MW 11 in the absence of style guides.
