When going through the Calc FAQ and looking at the other FAQs I noticed inconsistencies regarding terminology and style which are partly due to the fact that the Sun team uses a different style.
I noticed that both oooauthors and docs.oo.o have a styleguide available that touches on some of the issues but not all. One issue, for example, is the way menu hierarchy is displayed: OOo: entry > entry > entry Sun: entry - entry - entry The OOo version has the disadvantage of having to be encoded when used in XML or HTML context which gives ugly-looking entry > entry > entry But I'd be fine with either one version as long as we have consistency across all deliverables. Rather more problematic is that often different terms are used to talk about the same thing which may create confusion amongst the readers and makes localization harder. I haven't seen a glossary of terms that could be used by both authors and translators defining the terms and what they mean. One example here is, that what Sun writers call the "main menu" is sometimes called "main menu" or "main menu bar" or "pull-down menu". Should we start to compile and agree a glossary of terms and work on a style update? Ideally, this would include oooauthors as well to have the docs being stylistically compatible. Opinions?
