I'm trying to create a custom numbering style that aligns the numbers
to the right (instead of to the left, which is the default), so that
when a list has more than 9 items, all the numbers line up on the
"zeros" column and all the list text lines up.
I have done this successfully in the past and have put the
instructions on the wiki (as a how-to) and in the Writer Guide.
However, it no longer works for me: OOo 2.x refuses to recognise my
selection of right-alignment on the Position page of the Numbering
Style dialog. Any file created in 2.x has the same problem in 3.0(m17).
This occurs in OOo 2.3.1 and 2.4.1 on Ubuntu 8.04. Is this a
known bug? (I can never find bugs in Issue Tracker.)
Related topic:
I notice that when creating a *new* file in 3.0, the Position page of
the Numbering Style dialog has some different fields and the
relationship between the settings in the paragraph styles and the
numbering styles seems to be somewhat different. In OOo3.0 the
right-alignment of the list numbers works fine, but if I open the
resulting file in OOo2.x, the lists are totally goofed up... so there
is a definite backwards-compatibility problem. Is this a known issue?
