This is certainly a welcome change, but it may have quite an impact on
existing or new documentation. What do you - as the authors of OOo 3.x
documentation - think about the changes?
Regarding the user guides produced by OOoAuthors, I think the changes
will be minimal, though it's always a time-consuming nuisance to have to
search the books for places where changes are needed.
The changes are usability improvements for the program, so IMO it's well
worth a bit of extra work to update the books for 3.1 when the time comes.
