Having trouble finding out how to download OpenOffice. I go to the
Download tab and there’s no option there to download. Help?

Hi, Elissa,

Sorry you're having download trouble; let me talk about that first.

When you click on the "I want to download" on the site's main page, you should see an expansion (colored green) which states what version the site thinks (it's really very clever) you should want. There's also another link to "Looking for a different version?", just in case.

Clicking on the first link should do two things: (1) take you to a "please donate" page (strictly optional!), and (2) start the download automatically. (Under Firefox, I get a "What do you want to do with this file?" message box. YMMV.) The last line on the page is a link that should start the download manually, if the automation fails. It's about 180 MB, which takes about 4 minutes on my 10-Gbit cable service, with the Ff "Down Them All" add-in (or 8 /hours/ on a 50-Kbit dial-up!).

If you see anything greatly different, please write back.

There may be service interruptions, as OO.o moves to its new home under the Apache Software Foundation, on Apache servers.

Meanwhile, about documentation: Thank you for your interest in helping with user documentation for OpenOffice.org.

Please see this page for more information, particularly the section
about mailing lists.

If you have trouble accessing that page, there is a read-only test
copy on the Apache server (OOo is becoming ApacheOO).

You may also wish to consider the LibreOffice Documentation team. A
number of people involved in the Apache OpenOffice.org project also
work in parallel on the LibreOffice project. More info here:
