This patch-set adds functions for detecting and reporting live-ness of LCores, the primary requirement of which is minimal overheads for the core(s) being checked. Core failures are notified via an application defined callback. As an example l2fwd with random failures is used.
Due to its size, the keepalive functions are built directly into the EAL, rather than being in their own library - this point needs discussing, as does the integration into l2fwd as opposed to being a new application.
