Dear Chris,

Thanks a lot for the invitation.

Hi everyone,

I’m very excited to be on board. I’m currently a final year undergraduate
at Univ. of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. I’m also a PMC member to Apache Tika
project. Other than that I work as an external consultant to AI projects in
a company based in SL. Although, my main focus is on deep learning and data
science(AI stuff), I personally use a lots of open-source technologies
including Apache. Diving into open-source code bases is one of my hobbies
and it has all the thrills of solving a big puzzle fused with the joys of
learning lots of new technologies, concepts and practices.

DRAT was introduced to me by Chris Mattmann, there are not many code base
scanners out there, and even the existing ones could hang forever, if the
code base is too big, but DRAT won’t hang because it’s a distributed,
parallelized tool. I believe, there is a lot of potential to DRAT out there
and we can make it the go-to toolkit for release auditing and code base
scanning.

Other than bug hunting and guiding new contributors to enhance our code
base, I also have few plans to enhance DRAT. We currently rely on Apache
RAT which is not maintained frequently, making DRAT to function with
multiple code scanning tool-kits, not just the ones which scans for
licenses and origin information(like RAT and Scancode) but also with
security audit tools which scan for vulnerabilities such as SQL injection,
hard coded credentials, cross site scripting, etc.

Thanks and Best Regards,
ThejanW
