Addressed remaining minor issues. Squashed commits. @ihuzenko, your many suggestions made this a much better solution. It is almost, but not quite, clean enough that I could write code gen unit tests. Need to clean up that pesky `ExpressionTreeMaterializer` issue, then we'll be able to write such tests.
