Hi Julian,

Well even if it is possible to vote on changing a name, I would strongly
suggest to reconsider doing so.
Here the reasons:

Changing the name would require us to:
- Update all Maven coordinates
- Update all documentation
- Update all packages in the project
- Rename/Recreate all code repos and mirrors
- Rename/Recreate all mailinglists
- Rename/Recreate Jira Project
- Rename/Recreate Confluence Project
- Rename/Recreate Jenkins Jobs
- Re-Do a Podling-Name-Search

And another thing ... Edgent started as "Quarks" but was already renamed once
in the past. I don’t think it's a great idea to do this again.

And I have to admit that I quite like the name as it fits perfectly for a
platform for Edge computing.

    Hi all,

there is another question in my mind about the edgent project.
As most of you may know, we are currently starting to “revive” the project
with a totally new team, as the old community somehow went lost (I think there
was a big engagement of IBM which was drastically reduced, this may be one of
the reasons).

So if we achieve to grow the community again and revive the project with
some ideas I ask myself if it would not be good to discuss of the name. As this
name was chosen by the “former” (P)PMC with their ideas and use cases they had
in mind I wonder if it is possible for a podling to change its name?
If this is theoretically possible, I would give us some months to see how
we proceed and if we have the impression that we have a vital community
growing, then I would start a formal vote for that and also start discussion
about new names.

Perhaps our Mentors Chris and Justin can comment on that?

    Thanks
    Julian
