commons-lang is a dependency that many of the components that falcon uses. Are 
you certain that bumping it doesn't cause any side effects from a class 
incompatibility stand point ?

The next best option to counter the class creation over head and thread safety 
issue for SDF is to make it a thread local variable, so that it isn't created 
too many times and thread safety isn't an issue.
