Hello Felix,
I'm a little bit skeptic. Usually a brand-new-version means
brand-new-bugs. My suggestion is to wait until 1.8.x. At this time some
other plugins (ui.tabs.paging.js as example), depending on JQuery UI
might also be upgraded.

My suggestion is to stick with the current, older but stable version and
upgrade to the new JQuery UI after two or three months. This will be
enough time to see if any bugs will appear (and hopefully get fixed:)

BTW the new autocomplete widget is nice - it will allow as to add
autocomplete support for shell commands ;)
