Last week I suggested changing DS to java 5 and didn't get any arguments. I'm going to do this now because it will make some refactoring I plan a lot easier.
I have no evidence that anyone is actively using our DS on pre-java-5 vms, and I know for sure they aren't keeping up with trunk (which didn't work on pre-5 vms for a couple months). If this is really a problem not best solved with a separate retrotranslated jar we can change it back later. thanks david jencks
