Hi everyone, My name is Ashhar Ahmad Khan, I am a third-year CS student and I have been exploring Apache Fineract as a potential GSoC 2026 project.
I started by picking up a few issues to get familiar with the codebase. Fixed a PostgreSQL datatable schema bug (FINERACT-2468) and then got involved in the self-service and Pentaho cleanup work (FINERACT-2480 and FINERACT-2481), both of which are currently under review. While working through the self-service removal I ended up reading a lot of the module internals just to understand what was safe to delete. That is what led me to FINERACT-2439. Once I understood what had been there before and why it was removed, the BFF idea made a lot of sense to me. I would love to apply for GSoC 2026 with this as my focus.
