GSOC Candidates - We anticipate hearing publicly from the GSOC program office in the next two days...
For our part, we had to make some difficult choices in a highly competitive selection process; the GSOC program then allocates based on other factors. There are no appeals or changes possible, but next year we would welcome your submissions again. We received 56 proposals and are very glad for the interest in the project. As we reach the point - soon - when we make announcements, I want to recognize that many students took the time to learn the project, understand issues, contribute fixes, comment on bugs, review code PRs, and participate actively. If accepted, you will receive an email from me or another mentor, immediately after GSOC's public announcement, regarding next steps. A few key things we were looking for, which is part of every GSOC program: a) engagement in the community (not in the last weeks but in the months leading up to the submission); b) detailed, thoughtful, and complete plans for how to accomplish the project goals with realistic timelines; c) evidence of understanding the nuances of the design choices or things to watch out for during development. We cannot provide individual feedback on your proposals at this time. As noted previously, we are grateful for the many submissions and interest in the Fineract project. We hope many of you will stay engaged throughout the year, and we hope to assist you in your Fineract journey. Again, we of course are very grateful for the efforts and engagement. You are a talented group! Thank you. Fineract GSOC program team (James, Patrick, Aman, Christian, Atilla)
