Here's a possible workaround.  It doesn't solve the problem that the lower DG 
should go directly into edit mode, but for me it prevents the RTE so you can 
click again on the lower dg and enter edit mode.

Add this to the script block:

                        public function hack(event:DataGridEvent):void
                        {
                                if (event.target != getFocus())
                                {
                                        trace("not us");
                                        event.preventDefault();
                                }
                        }

and call from both dg's like this:
                                         itemEditBeginning="hack(event)"
