I suppose for some non-Apache jar we could have it as a dependency, but in this case, we own the sources so our official releases should probably use an officially released jar. However, it isn’t worth debating at this time. We got here because the flex-sdk build was broken trying to use the released jar and using a snapshot was the quickest way to fix it temporarily. Then the version of the snapshot I used got wiped out so Erik fixed it again in this change with a newer snapshot. It was on my list to fix for real if Chris didn’t beat me to it. I recently found that Falcon is using the released snapshot and just checked in a change to flex-sdk to use the same URL. -Alex
