| I also see a "Create Sub-task" on the left-hand menu, but | i don't know how to use it. Perhaps see Jira Help. Well, it does look very useful and in line with some of what has been discussed. http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/v3.2/subtasks.html Specifically :- Sub-task issues are usually used to split up a parent issue into a number of tasks which can be assigned and tracked separately. Splitting issues into smaller tasks often provides a better picture of the progress on the issue and allows each party that needs to be involved in resolving the issue to better understand what part of the process they are responsible for. Sub-tasks have all the properties of regular issues such as summary, reporter, assignee, fix versions, etc. Their "issue type" must be one of the sub-task issue types rather than one of the regular issue types. but the above URL explains it really well.
