No, you're not having deja vú (neither this is an error within the Matrix):
a couple of weeks ago I've backported another fix for the same ticket to
the mentioned branches and sent the proposal to the list with exactly the
same subject, but it has proven to be problematic and introduced some
regressions... sorry about that.
The new fix uses a different approach, solves the original issue and
doesn't introduce any new problems (feel free to have a look at the ticket
for further details); it has been merged into develop already through
commit fdc4401 [2]. As a side note, I've also created a new ticket
(GEODE-8325 [3]) to improve the internal behavior and implement a long term
solution to avoid the proliferation of unused drf files.
