Hi everyone,

Thanks for this great discussion so far, and for everyone's enthusiasm in
bringing Geode back to health.

I'm a program manager in the open source program office at SAS, and I've agreed
to pitch in here to assist with the work of getting our Geode patches committed
to the project. I'm still getting my bearings, so please don't hesitate to
point me in the direction of any historical details about this work that may be
useful to me as I bring myself up to speed.

I'm working directly with Jinwoo to continue this work and have the following
questions/requests:

* As Jinwoo noted in an earlier message,[1] upgrading Gradle (and, eventually,
JDK) are key next steps for us here. To that end, Jinwoo has been gradually
bumping project dependencies in preparation for more substantial work. He has
four such requests still outstanding [2,3,4,5]. When might someone have a
moment to review these? I will also tap Niall directly on GitHub, as he's been
very helpful here in the past.[6]

* We anticipate that the work of upgrading build system components will be
rather substantial initially, though the work will of course accelerate future
enhancements to the project and we are keen to get it done. We're curious to
know, however, whether (and to what extent) members of the Geode PMC are
interested in/available for collaborating on this work. Jinwoo is working
diligently here; however, the work represents a rather large submission to the
project that is perhaps best handled as several smaller contributions (rather
than a single PR). For purposes of our own planning and prioritization, we'd
prefer to know what overall PMC and community bandwidth/availability for taking
on this work looks like.

Thanks again, and please let me know if I can clarify anything.
