Dear Apache Geode Community, I’d like to express my appreciation to Arnout and Leon for reviewing and approving PR #7930.
This update empowers Apache Geode to leverage Java 17—bringing module system compatibility, external JAXB integration, and a refreshed test/build infrastructure, all while maintaining backward compatibility. With this foundation, I’m now able to begin migrating from Java EE to Jakarta EE and upgrading Spring Framework and Spring Security from 5 to 6. Java 17 is not the finish line—it’s a milestone on the path toward Java 21 and possibly Java 25. It’s truly exciting to see our community thriving with fresh engagement.
