Dear Apache Geode Developer Community, As mentioned in the GEODE-10466 announcement, I’d like to move forward with creating the support/2.0 branch on December 1, 2025.
Purpose Establishing this branch will allow us to: -Begin stabilizing the 2.0.x patch release line -Clearly separate ongoing feature development on the develop branch -Ensure critical fixes can be backported in a controlled and predictable manner This approach follows our standard branching strategy for major releases and sets the foundation for post-2.0.0 maintenance workflows. Proposed Plan -Branch name: support/2.0 -Cut date: December 1, 2025 (UTC) Next Steps After Branch Creation I will take responsibility for: -Creating and pushing the branch to the repository -Sending a follow-up announcement to the community -Providing documentation on backport guidance and targeting expectations -Preparing the first 2.0.x release candidate If you have any objections, concerns, or suggested adjustments, please reply to this thread. In the absence of objections, we will proceed as planned on December 1. Thank you for your continued collaboration and commitment to the Geode project. I look forward to the community’s discussion and to working together as we enter the next phase of the 2.0 release.
