this would be a possibility.

For some of the components in GXP we have talked about moving them over to 
GeoExt, but mostly the ones in the data subdirectory, e.g. the WFSStore that 
you are talking about. However, as you probably know, time not always permits 
to pursue such an effort.

Sure, we accept contributions to GXP. You can start by forking it on github and 
sending pull requests when appropriate. TIA.
