The CXXFLAGS in src/test/Makefile.am issue is weird. Changing CXXFLAGS to
AM_CXXFLAGS makes the autogen.sh warning go away, but the generated Makefile
ends up not using these extra flags then. I'm grasping at straws here, but
maybe it has something to do with setting or not setting AM_MAINTAINER_MODE in
configure.ac?
