HBase and HiveIO (https://github.com/facebook/hive-io-experimental, used by
Giraph for Hive integration) could also benefit from this. You should focus on
Giraph though, I was just pointing out those other projects as support for
doing this in a separate library. Let's get Giraph Hadoop Shims working and
then we can generalize from there to the other projects later.
