That's really a breaking change and there is absolutely no words about it in the release notes. I have just migrated form 1.4 to 1.6. In my build script I have overwritten compileJava in order to use aspectJ. After the gradle upgrade :compileJava was working but not :war because :compileJava was failing... My first reflex was to read the release note of gradle 1.5 and 1.6, but my solution wasn't there. I have spent 2 hours to find out that it was because of the overwriting and then to find the explanation on the forum...
