It is the sense of the board that the Hama project should probably be moved to the attic.
This based on a history of inactivity in the project and failure to even report to the board. This change will mean that the project will go read-only as far as the Apache Foundation is concerned, but it does not prevent anyone from forking the project into a new life outside of Apache. I would add that this step is a relief to participants in a project that has become inactive since they often feel a strong loyalty to the project even if it isn't still their focus. I initiated a conversation on the topic of retirement with the PMC and got one +1 and one +0 comment back. That is a common occurrence when a large number of the participants in a project have moved on to other interests. This email is intended to let the entire Hama community what is coming. As I mentioned, this change doesn't prevent you from continuing to use Hama, it just means that further development will not occur at Apache.
