I agree this is pretty annoying. Then again the "error-prone" stuff is cool too.

It is unfortunate that this critical bug in maven-compiler-plugin has remain 
unresolved for so long.

In Apache Drill project, we are considering reverting to version 2.5.1 as lack 
of incremental compilation is a big inconvenience.
