Hi all, Hope you're all safe and healthy in this pandemic period. Recently Spark community is planning to move to Avro 1.10 [1] and Parquet 1.11 [2] which seem to have quite a few nice features. On the other hand, Hive 2.3.7 which Spark uses is still on Avro 1.7.7 and contains some deprecated/incompatible API usages. Therefore, I'm proposing a new release 2.3.8, including the following:
- https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-24324 - https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-24379 but perhaps more if necessary (being looking at how to shade & relocate Guava from branch-2.3 as well).
